| People, for all their various reasons and motives, enjoy taking a long walk off the short pier of reality. Some do it with drugs - alcohol, marijuana, hallucinogens, opiates, some do it with religion - "Marshall Applewhite told me if I castrate myself and commit suicide the UFO will pick me up", some do it with meditation - "om mani padme hum om mani padme hum om mani padme hum", some do it with simple escapism - TV, books, the Internet, Everything. While some people do it to gain a pleasurable sense of relief from the realities of life that normal persons
do not receive because life is no special burden for them, everyone I've ever met at one point or so does this. Too much reality is bad for you, I guess. |
