Director of Central Intelligence

The DCI directs the Central Intelligence Agency and all foreign intelligence agency elements.

The DCI is assisted by the Deputy Director of Central Intelligence.

Both positions are Presidential Appointments.

As of April 20, 2005, the DCI is no longer the head of the Central Intelligence Community, and no longer advisor to the President and National Security Council. This position is now filled by the Director of National Intelligence.
