1968-72 Concert Hall run by Bill Graham Located in New York City (with Fillmore West in SF). For three years this was the place to be for Rock music. It lasted only four years, but it was internationally recognized in the Rock world. Many albums were recorded there. Everyone who was anyone played it. Filmore West is still an active venue. The building that once housed the Filmore East is now turned into something else.

The Fillmore East that once stood proudly at 2nd Ave & 6th St. on Manhattan's lower East Side was one of rock'n'roll's greatest shrines during the late 60's and early 70's. Once stood a premier venue boasting a capacity of 2,600 where the top bands on the music scene of the time performed and made music history. Rock promoter Bill Graham opened the Fillmore East in 1968. Eventually most bands outgrew the capacity of the venue and it was closed with a final Allman Brothers concert on June 27th, 1971. The theatre, was razed in 1997, it is now a condo.

Alive with the sounds that shaped the American rock music scene between 1968 and 1971, the narrow four-story building was well known for the exploits of the stars and their audiences. The sounds live on in the minds of many people to this day as they remember the concerts that fashioned the future sounds of music. Gone but not forgotten as the live recordings bearing a proud monument of the decade of stars.
