A state, or condition, such that an intelligent entity's healthy state could not possibly be deduced from the current state. Essentially, the point of degradation beyond which a being can not be brought back to life.

The exact timing of information-theoretic death is strongly dependent upon the form of a particular instance of intelligence. In humans, it depends on presently unknown details of how the brain works. The current best estimates put it several hours after clinical death.
