Seminal book by AI pioneer
Marvin Minsky. In roughly 200 one-page chapters, Minsky outlines a view of how the
human mind may work. Although he offers relatively little hard evidence, Minsky's theories and constructs seem entirely plausible, especially as a foundation for
Artificial Intelligence. Minsky's fundamental assertion is that the mind consists of a large number of "dumb"
agents that perform simple tasks. Through their interconnectedness, these agents form what we call "
intelligence." Written in 1986, this book is still very much worth reading.
