A slang term for a small dog, particularly one of those annoying little dogs that bark ferociously in high voices. This term derives from the size-related ease of punting such a dog, along with the high-pitched yapping and whining that leads nearby humans to want to kick them.

Common varieties include the chihuahua, the toy poodle, assorted terriers, and various high-strung lapdogs.

Note: Dogs are not toys. Kicking dogs, or any other display of cruelty to animals, is a bad idea, no matter how annoying a dog is.
