In Object Oriented Programming, a class from which an object derives default properties, events and methods. An object may derive wholly from a single parent class, or in multiple inheritance, from several parent classes.

10/31/02. While reviewing my oldest and lowest-rep writeups, I included this writeup in a nuke request list, but the editors involved countered with a request to keep it in the database. In my opinion it fairly begs to be superseded.
