To President Bush,
"Why?"

On behalf of the future, I cry
For the dead butterflies in a cornfield
and their repercussions.

Did a field of crippled butterflies mean nothing?
You have let out GE, and cannot stop it.
Why did you not consider? It is not your generation, but mine, and the next that will suffer.
I am not a guinea pig. My future family are not guinea pigs.
Your selfishness has destructed the balance.

Do you enjoy watching children in cities choke as they breathe poison in every breath?
Do you still disagree with the Kyoto Protocol?
Is this your legacy?

You eat your fill, then you eat more.
The children in the shadows starve.
You know they exist. You refuse to turn on the light.

How many more children must become adults and lose their childhood because of early responsibility thrust upon them by AIDS before you notice?

On behalf of the future, I try the world.
