Pamela Voorhees is the mother of
Jason Voorhees
, supervillian of the
Friday the 13th
horror film series. She is the
serial killer
in the first
Friday the 13th
film because her son Jason drowned while camp counselors were
making love
, while they should have been
lifeguarding
in 1957. She tries to prevent the camp from opening since it isn't safe, instead she must take her
revenge
by killing the counselors at
Camp Crystal Lake
. In order to prevent the camp from reopening in between the years of her death and the death of her son, she murders two counselors in 1958 (giving the camp its nickname;
Camp Blood
), set fire to the camp between 1959 and 1961, and poisoned the water in 1962. She is decapitated at the end of the first film by a counselor named Alice. This is thought to bring the drowned
