S. J.

Suffix at the end of a man's name to signify brotherhood in the Society of Jesus. In other words, the person is a jesuit priest. Similar in usage to the suffix M.P.

example: John Conmee S.J.

The abbreviation SJ (Society of Jesus) is often used by Jesuits to indicate their order. For example, a Jesuit priest might have "Fr. Harold Bluetooth, SJ" on his business card.
