a port/interface into a computer which allows data to be transmitted in parallel, due to the availability of multiple wires connecting the source and target. (an 8-bit parallel port can transmit an 8-bit word in one clock cycle)

printer ports are the most commonly known of these, but things like IDE and SCSI are also parallel interfaces.
