A good description of the current government of France, Germany and possibly other European countries as well. Notable for high taxes, high unemployment, and politicians who don't even operate under the pretense of having any coherent ideology. Generally considered moderate liberals by the media, these politicans gain power by promising lots of money and never disagreeing with the majority in polls. A trend toward globalism is common, but not necessary. The UK and the USA are growing more pseudo-socialist with the advent of the so-called new left. The opposite would be a pseudo-fascist state such as Singapore.

The result of pseudo-socialism will be somewhat like Brave New World, as opposed to the 1984 of pseudo-fascism.
