Popular name for members of the Women's Suffrage Movement at the beginning of the 20th century in Britain - the movement to give women the same voting rights as men. Led by Sylvia Pankhurst and her mother Emmeline Pankhurst, and supported by many famous British women, many of whom went to prison for the movement.
