A revival of the old American Basketball Association, which folded into the NBA some time ago. True to its name, the league began play in December 2000 with eight teams. They are:
The ABA 2000 will use a red, white and blue ball, just like it did originally. This angers the NBA, which claims it holds the rights to such a ball. The league also promises faster play, cheaper tickets, and the reach to bring basketball to new markets. Considering that four of the eight teams are in cities that already have an NBA team, I wish them the Best of Luck. Should they fail, they'll join the ranks of the USBL and ABL as basketball leagues that failed.
