A high radiation area is an area where
radiation levels reach 100
mr per
hour.
All such areas require continuous access control, in the form of a manned control point area, or by keeping the area locked. Upon intitial entry into a high rad area, partial anti-c's must be worn, and contamination and radiation survey maps made. Subsequent entry requires only that proper dosimetry be worn. Places inside the high rad area that have particularly high radiation levels must be labeled as a hot spot. Upon exit the HRA, personnel must perform a whole body frisk using a radiac, to ensure they have not been contaminated.
