The
indicative mood is the most commonly employed
sentence form in most languages. A sentence in the indicative mood describes an actual or anticipated
state of affairs. All the sentences so far in this
WU are indicative. This would be in the
subjunctive mood, though, if it weren't so totally
self-referential. Be in the
imperative mood!
In many languages, including English, the mood of a sentence is conveyed by the form of the
main verb, and to a lesser extent by the structure of the sentence.
