A character in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Tybalt is the prince of cats and cousin of Juliet. He takes offense to Romeo's appearance at Capulet's ball, and challenges him to a duel. He finds Mercutio first, and kills him. Romeo then avenges his friend's death by killing Tybalt.
