Every year in mid
October the
annual Half Moon Bay Arts and
Pumpkin festival is held. People drive for hundreds of miles to sit in
traffic for hours on the small, windy roads leading into town, see the
tacky street veners selling their equally tacky,
overpriced goods, and eat the rather
disgusting food available (Stay away from the
cheese steak! You have been
warned!). Strangely enough the same
venders and the same food are there every year.
Tradition I guess. There is also the Great Pumpkin Weighoff, and Pumpkin
Parade, which are also the same every year.
The only reason I even bother to go anymore is the bands they book. They aren't exactally the Smashing Pumpkins, but they are still always fun to watch and listen to. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, don't bother. I'd much rather go to the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
