Phenomenon in the 90s' wave of New Norwegian Jazz, the 10-men-and-1-woman-band Jaga Jazzist has been playing the media and audience just as good as their instruments during the 7 years they have been the most image conscious band to entertain and dazzle the Norwegian public.
Combined of elements from 70's jazz, drum'n'bass, post-rock and contemporary pop, the sound of Jaga Jazzist is just as hard to categorize as it is to record. The band has long been widely regarded as Norways top live act, but has nevertheless been bothered with limited record sales until they broke 10.000 sold items with A Livingroom Hush, handsome numbers by Norwegian standards.
At the release of their latest album, The Stix, the band had the following set-up:
