Zathras is the oldest living
caretaker of the
Great Machine at 110
years old. 'Slightly'
mad he and his nine brothers (all named
Zathras, with
phonetic emphasis slightly changed) keep it
running. He may be a bit
slow, but he can also be quite wise
at times.
As a hobby, he is reasonably familiar with
temporal mechanics, though its not his favorite task. He is often
doing repair jobs and handyman things
Zathras as philosopher
Zathras understand. No Zathras does not understand, but Zathras do.
Zathras good at doing, not so good at understanding.
Drall gave Zathras list of things not to say. This was one. No.
Not good, not supposed to mention one, or The one, or...
...You never heard that.
Zathras is used to being beast of burden for others. A sad life, and
probably a sad death, but at least there is symmetry.
Zathras as a temporal mechanic
Cannot run out of time, there is infinite time. You are finite,
Zathras is finite, this...is wrong tool.
Zathras working but have no time, Zathras say go somewhere else. But no
one listen to poor Zathras. Go now or be trapped here for ever.
Zathras as a madman
No one listen to Zatharas. Quite mad they say. It's a good thing that
Zatharas does not mind, he's even grown to like it. Oh yes.
Sometimes Zathras talk to walls, talk to ceiling...but ground is closer.
Ground is used to being walked on.
What more information is there about this most elusive and enigmatic character of
Babylon 5?
Zathras cannot say. Saying, I would know. Do not know, so cannot say!
