At the second
elementary school I attended,
Riley School, there was a gigantic (or so it seemed at the time) wooden play structure, with two towers connected by a walkway, a couple of slides, a multitude of swings, and a little jungle gym that seemed dangerously high off the ground. On that playset I felt I was
king of the world.
And as Cid mentions, wooden playgrounds are not an extinct species. Here in Rochester, we have a couple. My friends and I play Vampire Tag on them in the wee hours of the night, sometimes with the owners' permission, sometimes without.
