A neighborhood in the South of
Mexico City, between
Revolución and
Periferico, close to
Tizapán and
Campestre.
It has a fairly poor part, where the market is (and where good food is to be had): here you will find cheap shoes, bizarre consumer goods, and a place where you can get Mexican tax forms.
The rich part hosts the Bazar del Sabado, an
arts and crafts markets, slightly overpriced but not
too bad.
There are also many incredibly beautiful and ancient
houses, which you are not allowed to visit.
On Altavista you will find the interesting modernist house
that Juan O'Gorman build for Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, an
interesting contrast to the other house the couple
shared in Coyoacan.
gringo tourists can be seen walking there at any
time, highly recognizable in their gringo uniform.
