The World Marbles Cup is the world
championship of competitive
marbles. Has been held at a pub in Tinsley Green,
West Sussex,
United Kingdom since the 1930s.
In the 2003 Cup, the 72nd year, Germany won for the second year in a row. The local British team favorites claimed that drinking too much beer caused them to lose.
Championship spokeswoman Julia McCarthy-Fox said: "The British players have lost their marbles altogether. It was too much alcohol and not enough practise."
