This nonsense is a popular subject line among
trollspotters suffering from a bad case of
Jargon File Disorder and a limited sense of humor. IMHO it's not about "winning" or "losing" anyway, because a
troll is an
interactive performance piece which depends on audience contributions. A good audience provides a
feeding troll with more material to riff on. If they make the thing work, how can they be "losing"? It's a partnership, an
ad hoc conspiracy of entertainment.
If everybody gets pissed off and acts crazy, everybody wins.
