Literally, Tang People Street. The usual Chinese name for Chinatown, in Mandarin--I'm not sure of the Cantonese pronunciation. The Tang Dynasty is often viewed as the height of Chinese civilization by Chinese, though it is a second in terms of self-identification to the Han Dynasty.

Tangrenjie is a generic term and can be qualified by the specific location, such as Nu Ye Tangrienjie (New York Chinatown) or Jiu Jinshan Tangrenjie (San Francisco Chinatown).
