CRPG stands for either
Computer Role Playing Game, or
Console Role Playing Game.
A CRPG differs from an
RPG (
Role Playing Game) in that it is more
limited. In a CRPG you can only do things that have been
programed into the game. While in a
traditional RPG (
Dungeons & Dragons for example), a
player, would be able to do anything the "
game referee" (referred to as the
Dungeon Master,
Game Master,
Storyteller, or just about anything else depending on the
game system) would allow.
Final Fantasy 7 for the
Sony Playstation console, or
Baldurs Gate for the
PC are good examples of CRPGs.
