A
singing cowboy musical group, who carries on the tradition of
Gene Autry,
Roy Rogers, and others of their time. Made up of
Ranger Doug (the idol of American Youth),
Woody Paul (the king of the cowboy fiddlers), and
Too Slim (the man with the biiiiig hat). They had an excellent and highly-creative
radio show on
National Public Radio, with music and a comedic take on old-time
radio dramas in which they did all the voices themselves. Later, they had a
short-lived children's show on
CBS, replacing
Pee-wee's Playhouse.
More recently, Riders in the Sky performed the theme to Sheriff Woody's 1950s TV show on the Toy Story 2 soundtrack.
