Recently I was tripping on psychedelic mushrooms and was chilling to some Dijon whilst reading an interesting write-up on E2 about Command: Modern Operations. When I awoke the next day, I went on E2 to find this magical write-up, luckily I made it all up in my mind as I was dreaming, so I get to make it for you!

Command: Modern Operations

Do you want to L.A.R.P. as a DOD strategist? Have you just watched WarGames? Did you just assert that Germany could have won WW2 to your circle of buddies after playing a session of Hearts of Iron IV? Or.... are you one of the five people on earth who actually enjoy playing Eve online and feel it's just too simple? Well, I've got the game for you!

Command: Modern Operations is a real-time tactical warfare simulation game developed by WarfareSims. It is the spiritual successor to Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations and is often cited as one of the most complex military strategy games on the market... Well, at least I think it is the MOST complex game available, just google the name of the game and swap over to images to get an idea of how you'll be having "fun" for $79.99.

In this stolen piece of CENTCOM software, players can assume the role of a military commander, taking control of land, sea, air, and space assets. (and ground units to a fairly limited degree... if you know how to code Lua that certainly can change with enough know how.) The game's extensive database includes real-world equipment, tactics, and terrain, providing an immersive simulation experience for both casual players and serious military enthusiasts.

Features:

Theatres of Operation: Engage in strategic battles across various global locations like Middle East, Pacific Rim, and Arctic Circle. Dynamic Campaigns: Construct intricate scenarios or take on pre-designed missions. (C:MO has almost every major conflicts post-WW2)

Live Operations: Simulate real-world operations with the integration of real-time intelligence data.

Multiplayer Options: Challenge your friends or join online battles through a dedicated multiplayer mode.

Command Professional Edition

Alongside the standard version, Command: Modern Operations offers the Command Professional Edition, a specialized version geared towards actual military and defence contractors. With this edition, professionals can create and analyse intricate scenarios, use specialized plugins, and access an extended database of weapons and platforms, allowing for real-world military analysis.

Here are some of the features straight from their Website:

Analysis:

  • Export various events to numerous export destinations (raw text, XML, databases, custom tools etc.)
  • Export unit positions, AI logic, weapon engagements, fuel consumption and transfer, air & docking ops and more
  • Analyse interactively (just like playing a game) or go massive with automated (Monte Carlo) mode
  • Run multiple analysis runs concurrently – either on same scenario or different variations
  • Go big with automated command-line execution for massive-scale analysis (machine learning, large datasets etc.)
  • View results summaries and drill-down to factors/causes of outliers & surprises
  • Store for long-term analysis or feed data to real-time dashboards – or both at the same time!
  • Step up to advanced 3D visualization using Tacview (yes, the same one for DCS World) or SIMDIS

Also, below is some of what the team plan to implement in the future:

  • ATO compliance
  • Migration to 64-bit architecture
  • CPE-as-service (web API)
  • Improved drone modelling
  • Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) modelling
  • Multiple-unit LOS tool
  • Explicit inter-platform comms networks
  • Hypersonics improvements
  • DRFM-based EA
  • Finite EA resources modelling
  • EA/Cyber ops integrated into mission planning
  • Extended space operations
  • Extended tactical/operational land combat
  • Explicit PNT (Position – Navigation – Timing) components & effects
  • Ability to use on-demand commercial imagery – Other providers such as Google Maps
