A book, first published in
1927, written by
Henry Williamson, based upon his
experiences of visiting
Exmoor on his
motorcycle after the
First World War.
Although a work of fiction it is based very much on things that he saw and people that he met during his visits to this wilderness area of Cornwall. It treats its subject matter, that of an otter living in that area in a similar way to that of Watership Down and the rabbits of the South Downs. The book was made into a film in 1979 which was moderately successful in Britain.
