A program implemented by the
Toronto Transit Commission to
protect women who
travel alone. From 9:00pm until 5:00am, women can be let off a
bus (not a
streetcar) between regular stops.
This is what happens:
- A woman tells the bus driver at least one stop ahead where she wants to get off.
- The woman leaves the bus by the front doors, while the rear doors remain closed. This prevents anyone from following the woman home.
